About the event
To help us on our journey we will look at two sutras on the subject. In one sutra about Sumati an eight year old daughter of a famous Buddhist elder, she asked the Buddha a series of ten questions about what is necessary to gain a variety of positive outcomes like how does one become spontaneously reborn in the presence of a Buddha, what makes one free from enemies, and how does one become wealthy.
In the second sutra the Buddha explains in twelve stanzas what brings one the greatest happiness. Thick Nhat Hanh: "When we read the Discourse on Happiness, we should understand 'happiness' here as great blessings or auspicious signs that bring lasting happiness to a practitioner."
We will also do meditations to deepen our understanding of the subject.
